Welcome to Halifax Pride’s new website! I hope you find these pages useful. We will be providing the most up-to-date information on an exciting year for Halifax Pride –25 years Proud!
It all started in 1987 with a handful of proud individuals who wanted to make a statement 25 proud years later; the streets are jammed with 80,000 people in anticipation of the parade as it weaves through our downtown core! We have over 150 float entries for the parade; we have the celebrated Dykes v Divas softball game; we have the grand stage main event; we have face painting and bouncy castles; we have Queer Acts’ live theatre and much more! All this, crammed into a few days of fun!
Throughout the year, we offer events to the LGBT community such as a golf tournament and the famous Fancy Gay Dress Party, held every March. Menz Bar, a valued partner, is the site for Pride’s Colour Parties, which celebrates each colour of the rainbow as we lead up to our Pride celebration in July. Another great partner, Coho’s recently hosted a comedy night for Pride and we’re working together to bring more exciting events to their venue.
This year, our focus is on strengthening partnerships both within the LGBT community as well as the Halifax community. These relationships will provide Halifax Pride with the support it needs for sustainable growth. ~ BETTER TOGETHER ~
