Would you like to help in the creation of the Halifax Pride Festival? Want to plan and deliver projects that shape the festival? Want to join a team dedicated to creating a festival that reflects our incredible 2SLGBTQ+ community? If so, the Halifax Pride Society needs your passion, time, and skills!

Board nominations are received and voted on by the membership the Annual General Meeting each year in October.
The board is able to appoint directors to fill empty seats until the AGM of that festival year. For more information or to express interest in joining the board if a seat should become available, please email fiona@halifaxpride.com.
About the Halifax Pride Board
The Halifax Pride Society is a registered non-profit governed by a volunteer board of up to twelve directors. As a governance board, members focus on strategy, policy, oversight, and supporting staff to deliver the Society’s work. While the day-to-day operations are managed by staff, board members are active partners in ensuring Halifax Pride remains accountable, community-driven, and sustainable.
Board members are expected to:
Serve a two-year term
Attend monthly board meetings and the annual Board Orientation
Participate in strategic and festival planning sessions
Offer guidance, feedback, and community insight to support staff throughout the year
Be available in person during the Halifax Pride Festival to represent the board, attend events, and connect with the community
Uphold Halifax Pride’s Aim, Vision, and Guiding Principles
Our Approach
We recognize that board service requires a significant investment of time and energy. We strive to create an accessible, respectful, and flexible environment that welcomes a diversity of experiences, voices, and identities.
