JOIN THE BOARD

Would you like to help in the creation of the Halifax Pride Festival? Want to plan and deliver projects that shape the festival? Want to join a team dedicated to creating a festival that reflects our incredible 2SLGBTQ+ community? If so, the Halifax Pride Society needs your passion, time, and skills!

How to join the board:

  • Review responsibilities of Board Members below.

  • Board nominations are received and voted on by the membership the Annual General Meeting each year in October.

  • The board is able to appoint directors to fill empty seats until the AGM of that festival year. For more information or to express interest in joining the board if a seat should become available, please email fiona@halifaxpride.com.


About the Halifax Pride Board

The Halifax Pride Society is a registered non-profit governed by a volunteer board of up to twelve directors. As a governance board, members focus on strategy, policy, oversight, and supporting staff to deliver the Society’s work. While the day-to-day operations are managed by staff, board members are active partners in ensuring Halifax Pride remains accountable, community-driven, and sustainable.

Board members are expected to:

  • Serve a two-year term

  • Attend monthly board meetings and the annual Board Orientation

  • Participate in strategic and festival planning sessions

  • Offer guidance, feedback, and community insight to support staff throughout the year

  • Be available in person during the Halifax Pride Festival to represent the board, attend events, and connect with the community

  • Uphold Halifax Pride’s Aim, Vision, and Guiding Principles

We recognize that board service requires a significant investment of time and energy. We strive to create an accessible, respectful, and flexible environment that welcomes a diversity of experiences, voices, and identities.
